Stat Priority

Intellect > Spirit > Mastery = Crit = Haste

Intellect
Is the most important stat; it provides both spell power and a higher mana pool, which also improves mana regeneration.

Spirit
Increases the rate of mana regeneration, which is critical for any high-end healing Priest.

Mastery
Increases the potency of all damage absorption spells.

Crit
Increases the chance for spells and heals to critically hit.

Haste
Reduces the cast time of spells, increases the ticking rate of Heal over Time (HoT) spells, and lowers the global cooldown (GCD).

Reforging

Optimize Spirit
On any gear that does not already have spirit, reforge for it. Mastery, Haste and Crit all provide good benefits and it’s best to keep them balanced. Which of the three you choose to reforge into Spirit is preferential.

Yellow: Artful Lava Coral (Cheap Alt.) / Potent Lava Coral (Cheap Alt.) /Zen Elven Peridot (Cheap Alt.)
Blue: Purified Shadow Spinel (Cheap Alt.)

If the socket bonus is Intellect, it’s worth matching the socket color.

Stat Priority

Agility > 8% Melee Hit > Expertise (26) > Haste > 17% Spell Hit > Mastery > Crit

Agility
Increases attack power which increases all sources of damage dealt. It also mildly increases crit. Agility is by far the most effective way to increase DPS.

Hit Rating
Increases your chance to Hit with melee weapons and spells (poisons). To reach any of these caps, you just need to gain more Hit Rating. There are three caps you should know about: Special Abilities Hit Cap (8% Melee), Poisons Hit Cap (17% Spell), Auto Attack Hit Cap (27% Melee). Only the caps mentioned below matter.

8% Melee Hit will eliminate the chance for any special ability to miss against a boss. To check your hit percentage, open your character panel and then check under the Melee tab for “Hit Chance.” Make sure it is at or slightly above 8%. After 8%, Hit Rating is no longer effective.

17% Spell Hit will diminish the chance for your poisons to miss on bosses. This Hit Cap is not mandatory, but, it is important to note that Hit Rating is still better than Mastery and Crit up until you’ve reached this cap too. Once you’ve reached this cap, Hit Rating is no longer more effective than Mastery or Crit. To check your spell hit percentage, open your character panel and then check under the Spell tab for “Hit Chance.” Make sure it is at or slightly above 17%.

Expertise (26)
The Expertise Soft-Cap of 26 will eliminate your attacks being dodged from behind. Having this cap and always attacking behind your target is crucial for avoiding high DPS loss. To check your expertise, open your character panel and then check under the Melee tab for “Expertise.” Make sure it is at exactly 26. This also means that any Expertise beyond the amount of 26 is no longer very effective.

Haste
Increases the rate of energy regeneration, and also increases attack speeds. This is the most effective secondary stat after the 8% Hit cap and 26 Expertise Cap.

Mastery
Increases the chance for your Mainhand attacks to grant an extra attack that deals damage equal to 100% of a mainhand attack.

Reforging

Reforging allows you to maximize your most effective secondary stats. Below is the general process for determining how to reforge your gear.

Step 1: Check for 8% Melee Hit
If you are below 8% Melee Hit, you need to reforge the weakest stat (see stat priority) into Hit rating. Continue to do this on gear until you are at the 8% Hit Cap.

Step 2: Check for 26 Expertise
If you are not at the Expertise Soft-Cap (2

6). Reforge the weakest stat (see stat priority) into Expertise. Do this until you are at or slightly above 26 Expertise.

Step 3: Optimize Haste
On any gear without haste, reforge the weakest stat (see stat priority) into Haste.

Rotations

Single rotation

Below is a list that shows all of the abilities & debuffs you’ll be using, and they are listed from highest priority to lowest.

1. Slice and Dice – keep active
2. Rupture – keep active with 4-5 points
3. Eviscerate – with 5 points
4. Sinister Strike – main ability
5. Revealing Strike – see below description

Your main source of combo point generation is Sinister Strike. You will spam this ability, and focus on keeping Slice and Dice active and Rupture refreshed. When neither of those need to be refreshed, use Eviscerate to spend your points. Only use Revealing Strike whenever you have exactly 4 points, and your next combo ability will be Rupture or Eviscerate. Revealing Strike does not affect Slice and Dice.

If there is nobody in your group/raid who provides the Bleed Damage debuff (Feral Druid, Arms Warrior, Subtlety Rogue, Specific Hunter Pets), then Rupture will do less damage than Eviscerate, and thus doesn’t need to be used at all. In this case, just keep Slice and Dice active and use all your extra points on Eviscerate.

Multiple Target AoE Rotation

Included abilities when in AoE/multiple mob scenarios:

• Blade Flurry
• Fan of Knives

If you are attacking a group of 2-3 targets, simply keep Blade Flurry active and resume your rotation. In this case, only use Eviscerate and not Rupture. This is because Eviscerate will hit the other target, whereas Rupture will not.

When attacking a large group of targets (6+), use Fan of Knives.
